Buying seasonal food from local producers is an excellent way to cut down on your food miles and support your local farmers and producers. The benefits are endless - from a stronger and more diverse local economy, getting to know your local producers and farmers, knowing where your food came from - choosing to cut your carbon and buy local makes perfect sense.

There are lots of ways you can buy local and reduce your food miles. Below are some suggestions to help get you started:

Home Shopping: Get local produce delivered direct to your doorstep with Howbarrow Organic Farm or beelocal. Home delivery will also help you to cut your car miles to the supermarket. if you are based in Kendal you can also get your weekly veg delivered to you by Growing Well.

Eat Seasonal Food: Eating only food that is in season is one of the best ways to lower your food footprint. Growing Well: Growing Well is a wholly independent non profit making company for the benefit of the community based in kendal. Last year they began selling 'cropshares' to the public - a way for the public to support what Growing Well do and also to receive weekly organic veg.
